How we look after your details

Short version: we only keep what you type into our forms, we use it only to send you Alfie Biscuit news or to answer you, and we never sell or share it. This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising trackers.

Who we are

The Adventures of Alfie Biscuit, Digby & Hot Socks is a picture-book series by Rachael Scherf, based in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. Rachael is responsible for your details. You can reach her at .

What we collect

  • The news sign-up: your email address.
  • The contact form: your name, your email address and your message (and whether you ticked "keep me posted").

That's all. The sign-up is meant for parents and other grown-ups. We don't knowingly collect children's details; if a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete it.

Why we use it

To welcome you and tell you about new Alfie Biscuit books and launches (only if you asked to be kept posted), and to reply to your messages, including one automatic "message received" email. Nothing else.

Who handles it for us

  • MailerLite (mailerlite.com), an email service based in the European Union, keeps the news list and sends our emails: the welcome email, news, and the one-off reply to contact messages. For that reply it receives only your name and email address, never your message. Every news email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • Formspree (formspree.io), a form service based in the United States, receives contact messages and passes them to Rachael.
  • Rachael's email provider, where your messages to her arrive.
  • GoDaddy, our web host, keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses and pages requested) for security and to keep the site running.

How long we keep it

Until you ask us to remove you, or until we stop sending Alfie Biscuit news.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete your details, or stop the news, at any time: email . If you're unhappy with how we've handled your details, you can complain to South Africa's Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za) or, if you live in the UK or EU, to your local data protection authority.
